Dylan Tombides tribute match

Perth Soccer Club and Stirling Lions Soccer Club are proud to announce that the National Premier Leagues (NPL) fixture between the clubs at Dorrien Gardens on Sunday, May 18 will be the first Dylan Tombides Tribute Match.

The match will honour young Dylan, who passed away from testicular cancer last month at the age of 20.

Dylan represented both clubs at junior level before heading to West Ham and representing the Socceroos at youth level.

Stirling Lions and Perth SC have agreed to establish the Dylan Tombides Trophy as part of the tribute, which the clubs will battle for each year in the NPL on a home and away basis, with the winner to be determined on the aggregate results.

Perth SC has also agreed to donate gate proceeds from Sunday’s tribute match to the dt38 foundation, which is being established by Dylan’s family to provide other young Australian footballers with the opportunity and support to realise their footballing dreams.

Perth SC President Gary Marocchi said Dylan was not only an outstanding young footballer, but a dedicated, loyal and respectful young man who had left a big impression on the club.

“Dylan played with a number of the boys who are now playing in our first team and there will be no greater honour for these boys to participate in a tribute match for their former teammate and friend,” Marocchi said.

Stirling Lions spokesman Don Evans said Dylan and his family would always be a big part of the football family at the Den.

“Dylan’s time spent with our club will be honoured on Sunday by a trophy befitting of the champion player, person and friend he was to all here in Perth,” Evans said.

Perth SC and Stirling Lions encourage the local football community to honour young Dylan by attending the game on Sunday at Dorrien Gardens. The first teamz game kicks off at 3pm.

The local football community is also encouraged to support the dt38 foundation. People can donate online at www.dt38foundation.co.uk
