Very challenging conditions meant only a couple of hardy sailors managed to complete Sunday's races
With the wind averaging 20 knots from the west and occassional 25 knot 'bullets' hitting the fleet, only 6 sailors decided to line up for the start of Heat 9 of the Spring series. The conditions proved too extreme for the catamarans with Andrew Hill's Mosquito and Rhys Mead's F18 both suffering gear failure and failing to complete the course. In Division 3 Alexander Jurovic in his Laser 4.7 battled bravely to beat out Colin Franke's Sabre. Mark Axton in his Impulse and Chris Myers in his Paper Tiger also managed to complete the course to take the points for their respective divisions.
With the majority of the fleet now on shore assessing damage, only Colin Franke and Mark Axton made the start for Heat 10 and both managed to complete the course.
Thanks to those on duty in Simon Spalding, Peter & Alistair Gray, Lynn Dugay, Rohan Cantley-Smith, Moira Hill & Pat Pedecini for allowing the race to happen and getting everyone back to shore safely!
