Fioretto Fencing Club would like to invite Junior Secondary School Foil fencers to a Schools Competition at Fioretto Hall on Saturday 22nd September.
They will be continuing to test a Division A and Division B system which has so far demonstrated it does encourage new fencers to participate in competition and get more out of it.
Please read below for the Division qualification criteria. It is their hope that this will provide a strong competition for developed fencers and a more uniform and encouraging competition for developing fencers. The system will be subject to review.
Due to space and time limitations we will:
- Only run Jnr Secondary age group (School Years 6-9 only) - No up age grouping please.
- Comps will be run as mixed pooles (2 competitions will be running parallel already)
- Girls DE matches and medals (1-3 gold only, 3-4 gold and silver, 5+ all 3 medals)
- If numbers are low all fencers will be mixed for pooles and DE phase will be divided for Divisions and gender (1-3 gold only, 3-4 gold and silver, 5+ all 3 medals).
Qualification for Divisions:
- Division A: Any fencer that has finished in the top 16 at any National (AFF) event or Koala Cup, in any weapon.
- Division A: Any fencer that has finished in the top 50% of a Fencing Victoria competition, regardless of age group, where there have been 8+ fencers in the competition.
- There are no age group exemptions (a mark of respect for our young fencers)
- All other fencers are qualified for Division B. Fencers may opt to fence in the higher Division A if they wish, but the 2 Divisions will compete at the same time, so no double entries are possible.
