Cross-town rival AFL Mackay clubs, North Mackay Saints and Eastern Swans will go head to head in a McGrath Foundation ‘Pink Stumps Day’ on Thursday.
Saints Senior Coach Craig Jenkins says it’s the perfect way to celebrate Australia Day.
"We invited the other clubs because that’s what the day is all about. We've had some great rivalries over the years and the winning team gets the all important bragging rights,” Coach Jenkins said.
"We had an Australia Day event last year raising money for CQ Rescue. The day was a massive success, so we are aiming to go bigger and better in 2017."
Pink Stumps Day is an initiative of the McGrath Foundation to raise awareness for Breast Cancer.
Funds raised will help place McGrath Breast Care Nurses around Australia and make a real difference to families experiencing breast cancer.
The public is welcome with water slides, raffles and the radio countdown throughout the day. Coach Jenkins is looking forward to a bit of fun before the footy season officially kicks off in March.
“It really is the perfect way to celebrate Australia Day. Cricket is what Aussies do and we couldn’t think of a better way for all walks of life to celebrate our great Country."
Gates at Zeolla Park will open at 11am on Thursday and entry is a gold coin donation.
