MACKAY'S Jordan Smyth has been named in the Queensland girls' team after her first carnival.
Smyth was one of six Mackay players who competed in the Capricornia team in Brisbane for the Invitational State Carnival.
She, along with Codie Jacob, Abbi Johnson, Maddison Goode, Sharnee Rees and Meghan Post, played their first games of AFL to make the Mackay and Capricornia teams.
Another Capricornia player, Hannah Davidson, of Rockhampton, also made the Queensland team.
Local player Cassandra Thompson joined Capricornia from the Northern region to help strengthen the team.
Capricornia did well against Darling Downs, proving to be quite competitive, while their first match was a washout.
The team included players from many centres from around Central Queensland.
It was coached by Laura Kidd, of Rockhampton.
