History on Duane Bailey
Duane Bailey was approached by Mr Grant Moore, President of Massey Basketball Association when Duane was 12 years old. Duane at this age was 6ft and played basketball for his school only. Duane was then coached by Mr Doe Williams, and through this level of coaching developed his basketball skills to a stage where people were noticing potential in Duane on the basketball court. Duane has always been a tall child and is a mature and friendly boy.
Duane then commenced schooling at Mt Albert Grammar and was selected for the Premier Basketball Team for the school in his first year of attendance, achieving a prize, the Silver Lion badge, at the end of his first year. Mr Ollie Bryce is Duaneâs basketball coach for Mt Albert Grammar (reference enclosed). Duane has come a long way learning skills and communication/leadership qualities through Mr Ollie Bryce and due to this level of coaching has now been selected for placement in the NZ Junior Tall Blackâs. Duane was one of the younger players of this team and was playing with players older than himself.
At present in 2008, Duane is still playing basketball in the Premier League for his school, but the commitments he has had with the Breakers Academy has intervened, so Duane has not played for his team for approximately 1.5 months, when the 10 weeks programme has finalised he will them be released to play for his club (Waitakere Basketball Association) and Mt Albert Grammar School.

Mumâs Words of Hope for Duane
Duane is and always has been a great wonderful boy and I hope for him exceedingly that he reaches his goals and full potential of what he can do in his life. I can definitely see the potential Duane has in his basketball skills and would not be trying to create such opportunities for him if I did not think this, as we are a one income family and this is a huge task to fully fund myself. I wish Duane every success for the bright future that he has ahead of him.
