This week registrations opened for next year’s World Masters Games (WMG2017), 21-30 April 2017.
Netball is one of 28 sports that participants can register for and will be held at the Auckland Netball Centre. This is a great opportunity for New Zealand and Netball to get behind WMG2017.
25,000 athletes are expected to attend from more than 100 countries, with the event offering a rare opportunity to compete on a world stage and celebrate sport in a festival-like atmosphere.
Netball New Zealand is proud to be supporting WMG2017 – the world’s largest multi-sport event to be held across 10 days.
I encourage you all to gather your team, tell you friends and get involved in what will be a memorable event. For more information and to register, visit worldmastersgames2017.co.nz.
Finally, last night I had the pleasure of being a guest at the Halberg Awards at Vector Arena, Auckland. This is a wonderful celebration of New Zealand sporting excellence and achievement.
I was proud to be there to witness the induction of former Silver Ferns captain and our second highest capped player, Lesley Rumball (nee Nicol) to the New Zealand Sport Hall of Fame. Lesley was one of four inductees - a tremendous achievement and we congratulate her whole-heartedly.
I hope you all enjoy a relaxing weekend and I look forward to seeing many of you at next weekend’s NNZ AGM and Council meeting.
