Coming up on Thursday 26th February, AFLQ Coaching Staff and the Gold Coast Suns Academy will be hosting an AFL testing session at Southern Cross University, Lismore Campus.
The testing session will replace Summer Training on this day where all participants are expected to attend.
The Gold Coast SUNS Academy will also be bringing several GC SUNS Players to the session to provide further expertise and education to the Northern Rivers Talent group.
The session will involve a series of Fitness and skill tests, which is conducted in the same way as the AFL Draft. This will involve 20 metre sprints, vertical jump, and the beep test.
So far the AFL Northern Rivers Summer Program has been running for 7 weeks and has been highly beneficial to the development of young footballers on the Northern Rivers.
This will be a great opportunity for the boys to be tested by an AFL Club and to learn what the demands of being a professional footballer are.
AFL Northern Rivers Regional Manager Trent Ryan believes this is terrific that the Suns are branching out to the area.
“It’s fantastic to see the GC Suns Academy partnering with SCU and football in the Northern Rivers’’
