Training is back on again in markedly different conditions to the pre-Christmas weather experienced with some welcome rain and ground conditions nice and soft underfoot.
The Tigers are progressing nicely with new recruits adding youth, enthusiasm and experience to the mix while the club welcomes some past players to the Den adding plenty of experience and club culture to the team profile for 2020.
Coach Josh Duffy is very happy with the progress for this time of year with the participation rate and commitment at an impressive level. A major focus to date has been strength and conditioning to ensure the Tigers are physically well prepared for the start of the year.
A new game plan will be another focus for 2020 under the new coach with plenty of education as well as match simulations during practice aimed to give the Tigers a new look.
After an impressive Reserves campaign in 2019 led by Duffy, he is hoping to give his senior team the necessary tools to be successful this year, but he is under no illusions that this will require a lot of work over the next couple of months and the ensuing season.
The Tigers would like to thank the Ferny Grove Falcons for their support in enabling some critical training sessions at their facility. The new lights at the Den on Oval 1 will not be ready for several weeks and Oval 2 has been out of action with the new irrigation project not yet settled in so a temporary venue was necessary for full field work.
There is still room for late starters for all three grades for the new year for anyone thinking of making a move or restarting their footy career.
