During the recent OAFL Annual General Meeting a new Bylaw was passed. In the coming season, all ‘New Australian OAFL players’ must register with the Director of Umpiring, and to umpire a minimum of 2 games at the Director of Umpiring or the OAFL Executive’s discretion. This new rule comes into play as a direct result to qualified and able Australian players not assisting with umpiring duties. This largely led to work overload on umpires, and games being umpired by a single umpire on a far too regular basis during the 2010 year.
Several sections of the bylaws had minor rewording for clarification and tiding up, with the other major inclusion to the Bylaws being the formalisation of the Division 2 rules and qualifications. Other results from the AGM were the reappointment of Martin Walter (President), Mark Peterson (Vice President), Dennis Gibson (Treasurer), and Bill Conway (Secretary / Registrar). Hamilton Wildcats AFC veteran Brett Hill (Director) was the only new face added to the board, while Andrew Curtis has been appointed the Director of Umpiring. 'Director of Umpiring' and the currently vacant position of 'Director of Development' are new board positions that were recently approved at the AGM, but require approval from AFLC before becoming official. Calls to reduce Division 1 player numbers, as well as additional bylaws to force inter club affiliations were thrown out.
The Hamilton Wildcats AFC would like to congratulate Brett "Hilly" Hill for his recent appointment to the 2011 OAFL Executive, and we know that if you work half as hard i nthe OAFL iffices as you do on the field; you'll do an amaing job!!! Good on ya mate.
OAFL.
