The Mayne Football Club acknowledges the passing of Premiership Player Peter Allison on Friday morning 16th November 2018 at the very young age of 62.
Peter or Allo as he was affectionately known was a Huon Valley product who came to the Tigers in the mid 1970’s via the North Hobart Football Club where he was highly regarded. He was a talented attacking player who topped the Tigers goal kicking in 1981 and was a prominent player in the 1982 Premiership team. He was also a member of the Tigers squad that played in their last QAFL Grand Final in 1985.
Mayne Tigers legend and kindred Tassie product Shane Johnson recalls his good friend as “a wonderful clubman, genial host, trip away organiser, teammate and life of the party for which he will be fondly remembered most. He had an infectious personality, boundless energy and would go out of his way to help people in many areas but more so in his profession as a plumber.
Johhno went on to say “Many peoples’ lives are richer for having known "Allo".
Peter is survived by his only daughter Brooke, who is due to have her first child in two weeks.
Peter’s nephew Paul Allison Jnr has passed on the following note affectionately remembering his much loved uncle.
“The Mayne Tigers were forever part of Uncle Peter’s foundation and his number 12 was the family favourite.
I was lucky enough to play my first game of football at 5yrs of age for Mayne wearing my Uncle Peter’s number 12.
I was then fortunate enough to also play a Senior game of football for Mayne just like my Uncle Peter.
His advice to me as a footballer from that first game for Mayne to my last game of football was that “You must have steel in your fingers.”
A celebration of Peter’s life will be held at the Church of Christ the Priest at 2 Jindabyne Road, Kingston Beach, Hobart, Tasmania on Thursday 22nd November 2018 commencing at 10.00am and all Members and Supporters of the Mayne Football Club are invited and encouraged to attend.
The Mayne Football Club wishes to extend their condolences to Peter’s family and friends at this sad time.
