The Mayne Tigers are pleased to promote a great opportunity for their youth players to receive some valuable assistance in preparing themselves for the job market.
The programme is called Launchpad and has been developed in conjunction with the State Government and with their financial support. It is free to attend but is limited to 20 places so you need to nominate quickly.
If you participate in this programme you will receive some great insights and training from industry professionals in a range of skills which are critical for putting yourself ahead of your peers when seeking and attending interviews but also providing you with a range of essential life skills.
The programme is being delivered by Shane Johnson of AFL Sportsready. Shane is a Mayne 100 game player with a long history in preparing young people for life having been a Player Welfare and Development Manager with the Brisbane Lions for many years as well as many other roles in football and junior development. He has developed the AFL Sportsready business around helping young people get into the workforce and prepare themselves for life’s challenges. Most recently he helped the Mayne Tigers achieve Premiership success in 2014 as part of our Football Department performing voluntary roles as an assistant coach, mentoring a number of our young players and fundraising.
Launchpad is a Ready for Work and Life Skills program that is being run for two sessions (9am-3pm) per week for five weeks from November 14. It is aimed at youth 18-19 years old who have had trouble getting meaningful employment.
The program will be held at the Kedron Wavell Services Club at Chermside, be run by AFL Sportsready and will include a number of appropriate guest speakers.
