Overall it was not as successful a season as the Dingos would have liked as we started the season with five straight wins but then struggled with only three more wins for the rest of the season including finals. It had a detremental effect on the Dingos and so we would have liked to have provided some input before the decision was made for consideration during the process. The Dingos provided feedback during the year on head high tackles and hits. In summary we believe that offenders should be given longer suspensions than were provided this year. Precedence is a fine tool to use for suspensions but only if the precedencts are suitable. A head high tackle should be severly discouraged in the OAFL or players will chose other sports to play. With regard to umpires for the finals, the Dingos talked to an umpire that was scheduled to umpire the semi-final beween us and the Hawks. When the Hawks discovered there were playing in this game the Director of umpiring (who plays for the Hawks) told him that he wouldn't be umpiring for undisclosed reasons. As a result we would like to see the umpire schedules posted well in advance (especially for finals) and any changes made known to the teams involved as well as reasons for changes. The Dingos encourage the use of Friday night games but would like to see them spread at least between Humber North and Humber south so that the Roos don't enjoy so much of a home ground advantage. Reiterated from From Last Year Runners/Water Carries Each team should be allowed one Water Carrier and One Runner on the field during game play. Both of these people should be easily identfied by the umpire by a bright yellow t-shirt or something equivalent. Teams breaking these rules should be docked one goal for first infraction, entire current score for second infraction. This will promote a more professional level of OAFL game.
