January 2020 Newsletter

G'day Roos,

Welcome to 2020, with what promises to be an exciting year of Aussie football and 20/20 vision puns. Following a very successful 2019, we look forward to building as a club and as an active member of the Calgary community.

Bushfire relief raffle
The season has begun on a note that we can all be proud of, with over $9000 dollars worth of prizes being donated in a two week period to go towards our bushfire raffle. Tickets can either be purchased by contacting us via email (info@calgarykangaroos.ca). Thank you to all who have donated or helped to sell tickets.

Winter indoor sessions
Pre-season training and introductory sessions are beginning to roll out with several different indoor venues secured January through March. All attendees, whether it be past players or individuals completely new to the game, are encouraged to come down and have a run-around.

Casino volunteer opportunity
We have been lucky enough to secure another casino fundraising night in March. This has been a vital factor in ensuring the financial security of the club in recent years. A volunteer signup sheet is now open via the following link: http://volunteersignup.org/9PRLK

Volunteers will receive free Roos gear to say thanks! You'll also get a $100 refund on your dues at the end of the year. Send through any questions about the night you may have as we build towards it.

Good luck and congratulations
Good luck to all our Roos members who are representing Calgary against the Hawai'i Eagles on February 15th in Honolulu. We hope you enjoy the sun and let's bring home the title!

Additionally, we want to congratulate all former Roos, and our footy mates from the Calgary Kookaburras, who have been selected to represent Canada at the upcoming International Cup in Maroochydore, Australia in July.

Season 2020
Over the coming weeks, we hope to finalise the spring and summer calendar for 2020. Thank you all for your help and support so far!

As always, for more information regarding our events, check out our Facebook page and website.

Cheers,
Calgary Kangaroos Australian Football Club

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
