A mixed bag for the footy club this weekend with just two wins – One in the netball and the reserves. Seniors stayed with one of the main premiership fancies in Mooroolbark, but a master class from former AFL player Aaron Mullet sunk the Tigers with Mullet breaking the game open in the 3rd Quarter with 4 majors. Reserves continued their winning ways, with the under’s wasteful in front of goal. Netball ball girls again recorded a 50 / 50-win loss record. The first presidents lunch with 3 time Richmond premiership star Dylan Grimes was again an over whelming success with rave reviews from The 130 plus crowd. BIG THANK YOU to The Mitcham Volunteers who worked tirelessly Friday and Saturday to prepare for Saturdays game and the Mooroolbark Football Club for joining us on mass in the rooms after the game. Under 19s Coachs Report
Our boys had a solid week at training and the quality of our sessions was what we had wanted to see following an unexpected loss last week, so the feeling pre game was pretty good. I thought we made an ok start with the first play of the day going exactly as we had planned pre game, albeit that we didn’t convert. I do believe ours is a talented squad of players, however on quality of the chances created, work rate, greater appetite for the battle, Mooroolbark wanted it more and thoroughly deserved the win.

Reserves Coachs Report
Beautiful day Saturday with conditions being warm, both sides undefeated our oppo was always coming to play. The 1st qtr saw both sides move the footy well and the scoreboard reflected an even contest, the 2nd was similar, after halftime our 3rd qtr was slow to start as they kicked the 1st goal to take a 10 lead, our boys though fought back well with some changes made to our structure to gives us more coverage around the stoppage, at 3 qtr time thy held a 3 point lead. The last qtr was our opportunity to make the most of our possession in their half and the boys did just that with a 2 goal to zero qtr as we were dominant across the grd, and took the win by 10 points, once again our back 6 was terrific , our rucks and on ballers were aggressive and the forwards presented all day, pleasing though was another even contribution with our structures standing up under pressure. Great start for our group 4-0, tough task this week against Croydon and we can’t wait. Thanks to our supporters as they cheered us on all day. See you at Croydon.

Senior Coach Report
This week we hosted the undefeated Mooroolbark who are one of the benchmark teams of division 1. The first quarter was very even with both sides applying good pressure around the footy making it hard to get any space as both sides registered 2.2 for the quarter. In the 2nd quarter we had the upper hand but couldn’t capitalize on our scoring shots kicking 3.5 to 3.1 for the quarter leading to a 4 point margin at half time. In the 3rd quarter Mooroolbark lifted their pressure and gained the ascendency around the footy to take a 14 point lead into the final quarter. It was more of the same in the last quarter as our ball use cost us and Moooroolbark were much cleaner with their disposal and they ran out victors by 36 points. Zach Elms battled hard all day in the ruck and Jesse Smyth was dangerous up forward.
Thanks to everyone who attended the presidents lunch, we appreciate the support you continue to show the club.
We hope to see everyone out at Croydon next week as we take on the grand finalists from 2019.
