The Mitcham Football Club is delighted to announce the re-appointment of Senior Coach Neil Winterton for season 2018.  Having led our club to an historic 32 year drought-breaking Division 3 Grand Final victory in 2015, Neil has helped to consolidate our position in division 2 over the last two years and is committed to developing our young list with the aim of delivering more success to the club.
Senior Club president Matt McCubbin said”The board is extremely happy that Neil has agreed to continue on as playing coach in 2018.  Neil has been a fantastic leader on and off the field over the last 3 years, and although the list has been decimated with injury this year, he has remained determined and motivated in improving our position in Division 2”  Matt went on to say that ‘’The club has a strong view on our direction heading into the future and Winno is completely on the same page. We will now shift our focus and will review our list and football department to ensure we have the necessary tools for success in future years.”
Neil Winterton said ‘’I’m very excited to be reappointed as coach of the Mitcham Football Club for season 2018.  We have seen a number of young players show tremendous potential this season and it’s very exciting thinking about the future that lies ahead. To have 5 players who played under 19 football last year come up and make their senior debut bodes very well for the club going forward.  Having said that I have been disappointed with results that we have had on field this season and going forward we will be taking a more ruthless approach to ensure that we produce a more consistent effort in everything that we do.  I would like to thank Matt McCubbin, Dane Wilson and the rest of the committee for the support and faith that they have shown in me, having such a unified group in control of the club certainly makes life much easier.  I look forward to seeing the tiger army out in force in 2018 getting behind the club as they always do.”
The club is also ecstatic to confirm Steve Jordan will continue as reserves coach in 2018.  Jordy works well with Neil and both are excited to work with our list to develop and promote our youth so we continue to improve as a club both on and off the field.  In further good news for the Mitcham Football Club, former player Kevin Bentley has been appointed Under 19s coach for 2018 and has been working with our under 17s this season in readiness for next year  #strongandbold
