LAST WEEK Busy weekend for the footy club THIS WEEK with the juniors left to run The AFL Victoria Metro Junior Championships at the MCG of the East Walker Park and the seniors traveling down to Take on ladder leaders Knox. The day got off to a ripper start with the 2nd XVIII recording a terrific win against the Falcons. Our young twos side again Played with great enthusiasm and endeavour recording a memorable 19 point win, Lucas and Marro both booted 3 while Blanche, Kable and Barro were named in the best. 1st XVIII didn’t fare as well going down by 31 points against a very sharp Knox outfit. Our boys where gallant in defeat and losing Handley with what looks like a serious Knee and Hoegel Just before half time for an off the ball incident didn’t help the cause. Jake Parente with 3 led the goal kickers with Winterton, Whitchell and Glossop, all in the best.
Juniors did a great job hosting the AFL Victoria Metro Junior Championships with nothing but praise from the EFL, NFL and YJFL for a job well done and Walker Park once again confirming its status as one of the best venues in the competition
NEXT WEEK There all BIG games these days and next week’s clash against Mooroolbark at home is no different as teams jostle for a finals spot. We will also welcome all our junior coaches who enjoy the best seat in the house from the Tiger super box

Reserve Coaches Report
Biggest challenge of out year was at Knox this week who had only lost 1 game to the undefeated Croydon by a goal, our form has been patchy the last 2 weeks so only a consistent performance at a higher level would be the only way to compete. Well the group delivered with a 3 goal win and showed that we can play the footy required to be and beat a top side, we started well with our pressure up to lead at qtr time, Knox came hard at us in the 2nd with fwd pressure and locking the ball in our half, the kicked away in the qtr to lead by 3 goals but a late one to us saw them take a 12 point lead into halftime. The 3rd was an arm wrestle as both sides fought it out however we managed to level the scores and take a small lead into the last, our pressure lifted to another level as we were clearly on top to kick away with a 4 goal to 1 last term and claim the win, Tex and Louy were super all day with 3 goals each whilst Josh Kable in the ruck was our best floating back to take marks in our backline with 4 in the last qtr. This was a team Performance to be proud of as we had even contribution from everyone, our spirit and willingness to be as one and work for each other was as good as I've seen. Our supporters were terrific as they helped us belt the song out loud! We do have to switch on to this week against a tough Mooroolbark nothing but a win will satisfy our expectations.

Senior Coaches Report
This week we travelled out to Knox to take on the undefeated top side, it would be a really good test for us to see if we could compete for 4 quarters. In the first quarter they jumped us kicking 2 early goals, we were able to work our way back into the game end level the scores quickly, unfortunately not long after we lost Jayden Hoegel to concussion for the rest of the day and Ryan Handley with a serious knee injury leaving us short on rotations for the remainder of the day. We went into quarter time with a 2 goal deficit. Our 2nd quarter was excellent our pressure around the footy lifted and we played good team football linking up well through the midfield and hitting targets going forward, we went into half time with a small lead. The challenge was always going to be whether we could sustain our efforts for 4 quarters and go with the top side in the 2nd half when they lifted. Unfortunately we weren't able to meet the challenge as they took control of the match halfway through the 3rd quarter and were able to come away with a comfortable 5 goal win. We can take some positives out of the match given we were able to match it with the top side for long periods we just need to be able to do it for longer to take a step forward. We have a very important game this week against Mooroolbark, it will be good to get back home, we hope to see everyone out their to support us.
