The Tiger train rolled up the mountain this week to take on the Silvan Cats in both clubs first ever night game for premiership points. Although the ground was small the surface was in excellent condition and the weather was very kind and by the time the senior game started there was an excellent crowd in attendance. Both the under 19s and seniors recorded 100 point plus wins while the Reserves were just happy to get back on the winners list after the last couple of weeks.

Next weeks home game against Boronia is shaping up as a big day with what should be 3 excellent games against a tough Hawks outfit Plus the Juniors are running there FREE Family day on the Dunlavin side of the ground which is always a big event

Under 19's:

The challenge of playing Silvan this week saw a great opportunity to build on our second half performance from last week. The focus for the game was playing the game on our terms and at our intensity. Although the final result reflected a dominant performance the first and second halves were contrasting performances. The first half saw us second to the ball and looking to receive on the outside and delivering the ball poorly forward giving our forwards little to no chance. Lachlan George was outstanding and was one of very few players who put in a full four quarter performance. After half time our player’s lifter their work rate and were more patient with the football. The delivery forward was first class and allowed us to have shots with less pressure from higher percentage areas of the forward 50. We outscored our opponents by 20+ goals in the second half and benefitted from better ball movement across the ground. Blake Dosser was once again exceptional in the ruck where he follow up his work and gave good supply to the midfield. Sam Howell kicked straight to record 10 goals and Tommy Blanche's run and carry off half back complemented his silky foot skills and both George boys worked tirelessly all day. We look forward to next week’s clash with one of the inform teams in Boronia for a chance to cement our at the top half of the ladder.

We made our way up the road to Silvan for a twilight game and to come away with a solid 10 goal victory was very pleasing. On a small ground we knew they would be tough to beat and it was even at half time with 5 goals apiece. The message this year is to do the simple things well, play uncomplicated footy and follow instructions, over the last couple of weeks we have been inconsistent in doing this but when we do we become an exciting side to watch and more importantly we are predictable to each other. Our 3rd quarter was terrific with 8 goals, our forward pressure lead by Phil Muscara who kicked 4 and Mark Parente was good to watch as they are both starting their senior footy this year, Ethan became a target for us in the square and he played his role well kicking 2 as well as bringing the ball to ground for our smalls. Tyler Arrowsmith was again impressive of half back and on the ball and Emmo in ruck certainly gave us first use especially in the second half. We still have plenty to work on as we have to become more consistent in our style of play and learn not to have times during the game where we fall into bad habits. I have every confidence in this group as Saturday showed what we can do, however hard work on the track is the only way forward to getting the results we want and it starts with Boronia this week. Thank a big thank you to all the supporters who travelled up to Silvan it’s very much appreciated by the group.

Round 4 saw us have the opportunity to play a night match up at silvan, which was a good experience for everyone. We started the game off really well playing good hard team football and getting rewards on the scoreboard, unfortunately we got ahead of ourselves in the last 10 minutes of the quarter and conceded the last 4 goals. We were able to refocus in the 2nd quarter and get back and top and go into half time with a handy lead. The third quarter saw us play our best quarter of footy for the year, we dominated possession and were able to reap the rewards on the scoreboard. The last quarter started out well but we conceded the last 3 goals which was a bit disappointing. Overall to win by over 100 points was a step in the right direction for us. Jayden Hoegel continued his fine form with 6 goals, Rob Petracca played his best game of the season snagging 4 goals and winning a lot of the footy and Marc Watson also had his best outing with 4 and plenty of the ball.

Thankyou to everyone who travelled out to Silvan on a Saturday night, hopefully we see you all at home this week against Boronia for The Clubs family day and congratulations to the Mitcham under 9’s who presented the club with its first silver wear of season winning the lighting premiership on Sunday WELL DONE
