Dear St Peters Football Club families,

Tonight the SMJFL has released a statement regarding the proposed start date for the 2020 season - CLICK HERE TO VIEW.

The memo indicates that the AFL has strongly advised all community leagues to delay the start of their seasons until at least 31 May 2020 (this includes Auskick and junior football).

We understand that this news is upsetting to the kids (who just want to play footy) and also raises a number of questions for our parents (grading, training, fees).

We ask that you bare with us as we work with the SMJFL over the next few weeks to determine the pathway forward.  As you are aware, any additional control measures implemented by the government may also influence the season start date.

Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated during this time.  We will continue our planning and preparations, to ensure our teams are ready to take to the field when the season does begin.  We hope that further details will be available soon, but at this stage confirm that Auskick sessions and junior football matches will not commence until at least 31 May 2020.

In the meantime, please continue to stay engaged with your football and keep preparing for the season (eg kick the footy in the back yard, go for a run).  Additionally, make the effort to care for the members of the local community who maybe struggling in these times of uncertainity.  We're all in this together.

As always, we will continue to update you with details as they become available.

Steve James - President
on behalf of the St Peters Football Club committee
