Young Hawks fly to strengthen ties
The visit was part of the St Patrick’s Immersion program, that enriches the lives of both the young men from St Pats, and the indigenous people in the communities visited.
Jake is a Club Captain at the Sandgate Hawks Sporting Club for the 2015 season, and this year he proved the ethos of Care, Courage & Pride both on and off the field. Jake has been a great club captain this year, leading by example and supporting the Junior Hawks in many ways, from volunteering in the canteen, to assisting the young Hawks at training on a weekly basis.
Sandgate players helping to strengthen our indigenous and cultural ties, and as a result of the recent visit to Noonkanbah, all the children play AFL, and are now keen Hawks supporters.
A group from the community recently came for a visit, and enjoyed having a kick with some younger Hawks players down at the club.
We applaud the efforts of the young men from St Patrick's College, and encourage more Hawks to take part in rewarding community opportunities such as this one.
We look forward to seeing some of the Noonkanbah players in the future, donning the green & red!!
