Falcons Seniors Jumper Presentation Night

The Ferny Grove Falcons have a new-look leadership group and 15 new faces to the club as they approach the start of the 2018 AFL Queensland season.

Based at Tramway Street Oval, the Falcons are entering their fourth season of senior football in QFA Division 5 and are yet to experience finals football.

They have received a significant injection of younger players over summer, which has coincided with the retirement of a number of older players.

Foundation players James Dotta and Chris O’Shea were elevated to vice-captaincy roles for the coming season, with second-year player Joe Nielsen alongside them after impressing the match committee with his commitment in his first year playing the game.

The Falcons will again be led by Josh Furnari, who has won the last two competition best and fairest awards.

“We are still a young and developing club, and our progress will depend on if a number of younger guys can take a step up,” Furnari said. “If we can keep our best team on the park for most of the year, then we should be able to give the top five a shake.”

Ferny Grove open their season against the Ipswich Cats at Tramway Street on Friday night (6 April).
