Round 8 Results

The Goannas were spread across Sydney this weekend bringing some logistical challenges to the club.

With next week being the last home and away round of the shortened season we have 3 teams locked in for finals

U19s Division 2

Our boys battled without a bench the entire game and with the huge ground out at Monarch had their fitness being tested. We were able to grind out a victory that give us a good build towards finals.

Goannas:       9.5 - 59

South West:   8.2 - 50

Women’s Reserves (Division 2)

A positive vibe from the whole team going into the game led to a promising start with the girls taking the lead early in the match. The girls fought hard together until the end against a strong Manly side.

Goannas:       1.2 - 8

Manly:            11.11 - 77

Women’s 1st Grade (Division 1)

Playing the last away game for the season, the ladies knew they were coming up against an opposition that were desperate for a win to secure a finals position. A strong start helped maintain the tempo of the game throughout. Awesome work from the team to keep Penrith to a solitary behind! Blockbuster game at home next weekend against our old rival Camden for minor premiers.

Goannas:       24.4 - 76

Penrith:            0.1 - 1

Men’s Reserves (Platinum Reserves)

Another terrific win for the Ressies as they booked their spot in the finals. The boys put in their best pressure based performance, overcoming Randwick’s running ability to dominate the Second and Third Quarters.

Goannas:       13.10 - 88

Randwick:       5.9 - 39

Men’s 1st Grade (Platinum Division)

A tough day at the office with early injuries telling the tale meaning rotations were low. The effort never wavered but the Randwick side were clean with the footy and too classy for our blokes.

Goannas:       0.7 - 7

Randwick:       21.20 – 146

Next Week:

Under 19s vs Southern Power – 8.30 am @ Waratah Oval

Women’s Division 2 vs Pennant Hills – 1.30pm @ Mike Kenny Oval

Women’s Division 1 vs Camden – 10.40am @ Gipps Rd

Men’s Platinum Reserves vs Balmain – 12.40pm @ Gipps Rd

Men’s Platinum Division vs Balmain – 2.10pm @ Gipps Rd

Thank you to the Merrylands RSL and HTT Transport for their continued support during these tough times.
