Round 2 Results

Good morning Goanna supporters!

Saturday was another full day of footy down at Gipps Rd and whilst we would have liked a few more results to have gone our way, all 5 teams gave their all in true Goanna Spirit against some quality opposition.

The rain held off until the last match of the day and there was a fantastic atmosphere with large numbers of players who made a day of it and stayed to support their mates.

U19s Division 2
The boys came home fighting against a fit and fiery Sydney University. With no bench to call on, unfortunately the boys fell short with the opposition showing their class throughout.
Goannas:       2.3-15
Sydney Uni:     8.12-60

Women’s Reserves (Division 2)
Another hard fought game for our Div2 Ladies against one of the form sides of this comp. As the intensity increased so did the Goannas with a big improvement over last week. It was a solid contribution across the field with EVERYONE playing a part . Congratulations to those players who made their AFL debut. Goannas:         3.12-20
North Shore:    8.8-56

Women’s 1st Grade (Division 1)
The Div 1 ladies carried their momentum from last weekend’s game into another strong performance against North Shore. Great ball movement and solid defence throughout the game helped contribute to the convincing win.
Goannas:       8.14-62
North Shore:    1.0-6

Men’s Reserves (Platinum Reserves)
A great game from our Reserve grade as they faced a very disciplined Macquarie University. The Men put up a strong front but came up short in the last quarter. With a bye next week we can expect big things upon their return!
Goannas:       8.5-53
Mac Uni:          12.14-86

Men’s 1st Grade (Platinum Division)
What an entertaining game! Our 1st grade boys showed their determination and skills throughout the entirety of the match! The intensity and pressure never dropped. A couple of injuries meant a diminished bench with Mac Uni having more run in the final quarter to win a wet and competitive affair.
Goannas:       10.6-66
Mac Uni:          12.7-79
