Under 12 Kangaroos

Our first instalment in the Team in Focus series sees us talking to Luis, the coach of the Under 12 Kangaroos.

Luis’ boys have started the season strongly, 3 wins from their first 4 matches has got the boys feeling good, especially leading goal scorer Lazarus who’s coming off an impressive 4 goals in his last two matches. His recent form hasn’t surprised his coach though, "Look I was trying to put him on a contract" joked Luis, "he was actually the leading goal scorer at the club last year, scored more than any senior player, any reserve player, any underage player". With a hat-trick in his last outing, maybe he can repeat the feat?

Lazarus isn’t the only player who’s risen to the challenge this season, with young Yahye making the switch in preseason from the Wallabies squad up to the Kangaroos and performing well at the higher level. With a goal already to his name, Yahye can look forward to continuing his first season of competitive football in style.

Luis has also pinpointed the progress of Tin, whose experience playing on a big field last season, something that most players in this age didn’t do, has put him in good stead to be one of the stand out performers in his coach’s eyes.

Over the next few weeks the Kangaroos will face some serious competition as they take on some National Premier League clubs who will be sure to bring some quality players to the league. The Kangaroos aren’t phased by this however, they know that they’ve been improving since the start of the season, and they’ll be ready to give their absolute all against some of the better teams in the division.

Before those challenges though, the boys will travel to Preston to take on the Lions in what’s sure to be an exciting game for everyone involved.

We wish the Kangaroos all the best for the season ahead!
