Lara 2-1 Greenvale United

Lara scored two second half goals to ensure they continue their 2015 FFA Cup run into the next Round against Old Carey. Despite going down early, Lara rallied through the heat and refused to take the game into extra time, capitalizing on their dominance by courtesy of a late Luke Wilson goal.

Greenvale had banded together for their first game of the 2015 season but were anything but slow to start. After only 4 minutes, Greenvale had been awarded a penalty and Lara defender Craig Stoddart shown a yellow card. The penalty was shot well over the crossbar much to the relief of Lara's supporters and players however that didn't stop Greenvale from attacking. The 13th minute saw Craig Stoddart pressured to the extent where his back pass was heavily hit on the half volley with the bounce being too high for keeper Aaron Pettman to handle, the result being a comfortably headed goal to gift Greenvale a 1-0 lead.

As the clock ticked over, the heat continued to rise with temperatures surpassing 35 degrees at the start of the second half. Lara started to dominate the game with the heat causing serious fatigue amongst the Greenvale players and it showed as new Lara player Luca Attaccalite sent through a ball to returning Lara player Lochie McGrath who equalised in the 51st minute. With the game finely in the balance, the end to end football and increasing temperatures were proving testing for both sides as every chance for both sides looked threatening. As the game was looking destined for extra time, Luke Wilson received the ball 40 yards out on 82 minutes. Wilson ran the ball through the middle, beating two defenders, before slotting the ball just between the left post and the keepers hand. Little time was left for Greenvale to reply and Lara booked their meeting with Old Carey next weekend in Round 2.
