Wet, Cold and only one win and that by our netball girls Friday night wasn’t exactly the perfect weekend for the Tigers this week. Netball girls have really hit there straps winning again 15 to 4 over Sth Croydon and moving into 3rd position on the ladder.
Our Young under 19s while beaten certainly showed just how much they have improved over the last 10 weeks, smashed in round 2 by Croydon to the tune of 113 points, they had their chances this week going down by only 17 points. To our boy’s credit they continue to improve, not be intimidated and play the ball. Pirzas was our only multiple goal kicker with two while Richardson, Horsey, Terure, Laughlin, Jarvis and Stingell were all named in the best.
Reserves also had their chances but 3 red time goals at the end of each quarter just keep Croydon’s nose in front most of the day as we went down by 13 points. All single goal kickers with captain Tsolos awarded BOG and Raath, De Luca, Finch, Pavey, Howell all named in the best.
Seniors kicked the opening goal but from there on in we were playing catch up footy going down by 49 points. Burkitt and Joseph with 2 majors each were our leading goal kickers with Nicholas, Winterton, Cherry, Glossop, Joseph and Uren all named in the best.
Our past players enjoyed a great day at their legends lunch with Tony Rocket Andrews and Peter Dungan inducted as legends of the club and Bernice Gale awarded life membership. Great to see so many of the old Boys and Girls back in town with a number who had travelled far and wide to be at the event.
On the social front The 130th dinner looms large Saturday 14th July so make sure you see Macca to book your tickets and we only have 30 tickets to the sponsors lunch Saturday 28th July with Dane Swan again book with Macca. The MND Ladies lunch with Neale Daniher is shaping up as one of the biggest events ever held on game day at our club. Under 19s Coaches Report
This was more than a game for us this week, having being on the end of a 113 point loss to Croydon in round 2. After getting ourselves into the top 4 last week this was a chance to see just how much we had improved as a team. From the start it was obvious this was going to hard fought contest in wet conditions and for 3 quarters we went with them, hard fought goal for goal. However in the last quarter, Croydon got the early break & threatening to roll over the top of us. Pleasing to say, like the good young side we are becoming, we fought it out to the final bell. Yep it was a loss but I believe it's one we will take a lot from.
