Life Membership GFC - 1989
A Gormy boy, Jimbuck started his career at Gormandale in the U18’s competition in 1971 and went on to play in excess of 200 games for the club. Jimbuck was a determined and physical player feared by the opposition. Not overly tall his physical strength and competitiveness had him generally playing in the ruck or ruck roving and he was a valuable team man. Being a member of the 1983 Reserves Premiership with brother Ken (Spunky), was particularly satisfying to him. At a point in the clubs history in 1975, Jimbuck along with Bill Riddle & Bugsy Turnbull, all who were in there early 20’s and still playing, almost single handily ran the club with Jimbuck looking after the Treasurers role. Their contribution kept the club going when the club was going through a difficult period. After retiring from playing Jimbuck joined the Committee and carried out several roles including Club Secretary in 1986, 87, 96, & 98 and Vice President, but it was as a recruiter for the club that he excelled and was responsible for bringing many good players to the club who later played in Premierships. His most important signing was Martin White who he brought down from the Darwin. Martin was a key player in the drought breaking 1982 Senior Premiership team. Jimbuck was also a key person in the building of the clubs social rooms in 1987, spending many hours on that project. His 1989 Life Membership was a just reward for his service to the club.
