Valentine Cookers

Senior Soccer at VEFC - Bob Austin

In the 1970s teams were entered in the Hunter Valley League, the person responsible was Merv Easton

In 1985 We entered two teams in the first M.D.S.A. all age competition,we continued to play in that all age comp till the end of 1990.Jim Wellings [a past president] was the original organiser and Bob Austin took over from him in 1986 till 1990. In 1989 we were approached by Phil Brown and the committee of N.N.S.W. 3rd division club Cooks Hill United about them coming and playing at Valentine complex. It was decided that we would bring Cooks Hill under the banner of V.E.S.C. and we started the long and frustrating task of trying to talk to the N.N.S.W. soccer federation about the amalgamation.

After 12 months of meetings and talks with N.NS.W. Gary Screen informed me that we V.E.S.C. would be able to take the place of Cooks Hill United in the N.N.S.W. 3rd division competition in 1991. The senior teams were known as Valentine-Cookers and in 1992  the competition  changed and became ID 1 and was run by Macquarie, Hunter and Newcastle soccer associations.

The club played in ID 1 till 1995 and ID 2 1n 1996.The club decided to cease playing in 1996 so that we could concentrate on Belmont senior soccer club amalgamating with Tingira soccer club which happened in 1997.

Coaches-1991 and 1992 Mr Keith Anderson,1993 and 1994 Mr Ray Dyson,1995 and1996 Mr Garry Bergquist. Alan Broadley was the manager for all ID grades from 1993 till 1996.
