John Tymensen (AKA: JT) has been announced as the new coach of the Mitcham Reserves side for 2010. John was orginally from the Norwood Football Club before transferring to the Tigers for seasons 08 & 09. A regular senior footballer, John showed plenty of promise on the field but was struck down with re-occuring injuries. After 2009 coach Darren Klein stepped aside to resume his playing career JT showed interest in the job. After several interviews with committee members and new Senior coach Scott Homewood, all agreed John would fit right in with the clubs future plans.
The club now has a very young but enthusiastic coaching panel at both Reserves and Senior level. With Homewood (27) and Tymensen (28) the club is hopefull both can deliver success over the next few seasons at Mitcham. Joining John on the sidelines will be his brother Kevin Tymensen. Both John & Kevin have played over 100 senior games of football at Norwood and have continued their playing careers at Tigerland.
Other senior appointments of note are that club legend Paul Chipperfield has rejoined the senior ranks for his second year as as assistant coach. Paul will provide our new coaching staff with a full insight to our current playing list having been heavily involved over the last few seasons. Joining Chippa on the bench will be David "Wanga" Weinlich. David has come to the club from Nunawading FC where he spent 2009 as a volunteer / assistant coach. Wanga's history as a senior coach in the SFL and a former representative coach will add further knowledge to our already impressive lineup of coaching staff.
Paul "Rocky" Dennis has also returned to the club after a short stint back at Nunawading FC. Paul will resume his role as football manager freeing up executive committee members to concentrate on other areas of improvement off-field. Rock is a superb football manager and with an influx of new players joining the club for season 2010, we are extremely happy ( & relieved) to have him back!
The club is currenlty in the process of reviewing our U18's coaching position and will have a decision in the near future.
