COACHING PHILOSOPHY
I believe that Australian Rules Football is a magnificent game that women have the right to play and enjoy just as men have for hundreds of years. As an inaugural coach from the first established female GSFL W competition I am still committed to improving this competition and the enjoyment and success our female players get out of the game at Goolwa / Pt Elliot FC. Our approach is to have fun while improving and being successful as Footballers. My personal football belief is that everybody loses, but you never get beaten! I give our players permission to fail and make mistakes, just keep trying!

KEY POINTS FOR 2020
We are again making history with the first round of Womens Football to be ever played on Kangaroo Island happening Round 1 2020 on Saturday 14th March ‘20
Second point of history making is our night match planned against Strathalbyn after our A Grade Mens game on Saturday 4th April ’20, the first ever GSFL W match for premiership points at night and after a corresponding Mens round.
Our GOAL is to have fun while developing individuals to play a team game, with the mentality of team first, whilst fosteringa strong and supportive Team culture.
GAME STYLE FOR 2020
Attractive football
- Fast movement with ball in hand by both hand & foot.
- Honouring our TEAM MATES effort to get to the right position & space to be the next option by using her.
- Aggressive defensive pressure causing turnovers by opposition.
- Effective set-ups around the ground to enable us to:
- Gain possession from ball-ups, boundary throw-ins, kick-ins etc.
- Force opposition into positions they don’t want to be in.
Disciplined football
- Respecting our opponents whilst fearing none.
- Respecting umpires – playing to the whistle.
- Respecting ourselves & the CLUB we represent.
SELECTION PROCESS
- TRAINING
- Every player is expected to train and put in their best effort. This is part of team responsibility and culture.
- ROTATIONS
- We will always try to fill a team of 22 players then rotate all players as a part of their development
- As for a lot of our women this is their first experience of Australian Rules Football they have ever had, we will rotate players through various roles as needed to increase their understanding of the different positions and roles within a team.
