It was a substandard performance against a slick Skye at Newcomen Rd.
We started well with Jack Allender slotting an early major. We probably had the better of general play in the first term but missed the chance to exert some scoreboard pressure, missing 5 gettable shots on goal.
The highlights from that point were non-existent as the visitors did what they pleased. We didn’t get our next goal until deep into the final stanza. Our tackling pressure was poor and the coach lamented our lack our work rate post game.
Ryan Cunningham tried hard up forward and in the ruck, Louis Greco was a good target up forward and Jayden Dart acquitted himself well on debut.
The reserves were also disappointing after a bright start. We kicked three in first quarter to secure a 9-point lead. From that point our desire and discipline deserted us and we managed only a point in each of the next two quarters. Skye piled on the majors to run away convincing winners.
Ritha, Mitch, Lace, Boz and crackers all tried hard. Liam Hamilton was the only goal kicker, booting four in a fine solo performance.
