Keen to right the wrongs of the week previous, the lads started with determination and a hunger for the contest against Mordialloc on Saturday.
Conditions were perfect for footy and the concern was that their tall forwards would cause us grief, but it was the young demons that had the better of the opening term. Anthony Bernardo was looking dangerous up forward while Drew was giving us first use in the middle.
The visitors were stunned into action after the first break and pile on an 8 goal quarter. In almost a complete replica of the earlier meeting this year, a second quarter snooze cost us dearly. Its a trademark of young sides that they have these lapses but we must address the problem.
The coach had called for a more competitive effort this week and with the exception of the second term the players delivered. Dean Kovacic was fantastic at full back given the high quality of volume and quality of supply that was coming into the Mordialloc forward line. Brad Scott and Jay Piggin continued their good form, whilst Drew Little (3 goals) and Anthony Bernardo were also among the best.
The reserves were seriously undermanned and credit must go the lads that helped us out during this tough time. With our backs to the wall its great to know that people care enough about the club to get us out of a jam.
