The Bits Saints have been working hard over the off season to recruit new players to replace the players from 2011 premiership that they have lost due work or have moved away. The biggest loses will be the League and club best and fairest winner for 2011 Adajm Rakip who has decided to move back to Victoria and Scott Muller who is moving away to W.A for work reasons. At this stage the saints will lose about seven or eight out of the senior list from 2011, these players need to be replaced to remain competitive, The club has been fortunate enough to have had a number of inquiries from quality players from all over the country that intend to move to the area for work. The most notable is Daniel Hawkins originally from Tasmania where he played league football for North Hobart and more recently playing on the Goal Coast for Southport and Coolangatta in the Queensland State league, Daniel is a very accomplished player having represented Queensland at under 21 level and at the senior grade in 2005, 07, & 08 he was also a member of the last three premiership teams at Southport Sharks.
In 2009 he joined Coolangatta Football club in the Pineapple Hotel Cup Competition in Brisbane and has won the last three best and fairest awards 09,10,11 at the club. Whilst playing at Coolangatta Daniel has become an intricate part of the Queensland country team and having him will expose the Bits saints to a another level of football in the state. Daniel agreed to join the Bits Saints Football Club last monday for season 2012 and would potentially be the most highly credentialed player the club has signed in its short history. The recruitment of Daniel will go a long way to filling the void left by Adam Rakip.
In other recruiting news for the saints Jared Layton from the Oakley Football Club in Melbourne has also agreed to play with the Saints in 2012. Jared is a quality footballer having played senior football in several leagues both in Country Victoria namely Wodonga FC in the Ovens & Murray Football League and the Oakleigh FC in the Southern football league inMelbourne. He has also been the recipient of several Best and Fairest awards at the senior level.
The Saints welcome both Jared and Daniel to the Bits Saints Football club.
For all new and existing players, training is held every Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm until futher notice.
