It was shaping up as a huge weekend for the club with 3 big games on Saturday and our ladies playing in a historic first official game on Sunday.
Seniors
The expectations of our senior side were huge leading into this first round game against Port Colts. With a number of our off-season recruits lining up for the first time, a win was expected. A large number of people turned up to watch the team and see if they could live up to expectations. One senior member of the club felt that it was the biggest crowd for a home and away game for many years. After only leading by one point at 1/4 time, the boys unleashed a brand of football that showed we are going to be very competitive this year. Kicking into the wind we went into half time leading 8.3 (84) to 3.3 (21). Everyone was excited and eager to see what the team was capable of in the 2nd half. The 3rd quarter was another great period that had us leading 13.6 (84) to 4.4 (28). While the last 1/4 was disappointing because we let them back into the game, we still ran out easy victors with a 16.8 (104) to 9.8 (62) win.
