It was a welcome
return to form for the Inverell Saints last weekend, and our first win for the
season over the Swans will hopefully be the catapult toward a successful last 3
rounds in the TAFL. This week’s
match against our ‘local’ rivals the Nomads provides the Saints with the opportunity
to put together 2 in a row for the first time since Round 5. However, the Nomads are playing for
their last chance to get to the finals, and will love nothing more than
knocking the Saints off.
The Saints have
unearthed some great talent, none more impressive than Ben Lee, who has taken
to the game in leaps and bounds.
For the third consecutive week he was amongst the Saints award winners
last week, and he will once again be vital in the ruck this week. Beau Ryan has also been an outstanding
find for the Saints, and his six goals last week went along way towards getting
the Saints over the line. Add
Peter Heath to the mix, and the Saints have had some great first year players
this year. The usual suspects have
also had great years, with Mick Viney right in the running for the Gerry
Griffiths Medal and young stars Joe Kimmince and Tom Williams having
outstanding years.
This game is a huge
one for the Saints, with a win putting them back in the mix for a top 2 finish,
but a loss keeps the door open for the Nomads to take the last spot in the
finals. There is everything to
play for, and this is going to be a huge week for the club either way.
