The Inverell Saints
will host the Muswellbrook Cats this weekend at Varley Oval. The Saints have made it back to back
wins for the first time this season and will be looking to continue the
momentum this weekend. The Cats
will be something of an unknown proposition for the Saints, as they have played
only once in the past 2 seasons.
Last year the Saints travelled to Muswellbrook in Round 4 and smashed
the Cats by over 100, only to have the Cats forfeit in the remaining two match
ups in the season.
The last time the Cats
travelled to Inverell the two teams played out a memorable match in the 2007
Major Semi Final. The Cats had
control of the match at the halftime break before the unbeaten Saints came home
with a wet sail to eventually take home the premiership.
The match this year
could be one of similar promise.
The Saints have many new players in the club and will be looking to
provide them with more experience this weekend. The Cats are coming off a couple of big losses, but won’t
travel to Inverell without a formidable line-up. The Saints have traditionally struggled to put away the Cats
so they won’t be taking this game lightly.
The Saints will look
to improve upon their performances once again from the last two weeks and
anything short of four points will not be acceptable in the drive towards the
finals.
