This award was previously given as the Netball Club Person Award, but with the sudden passing of our fellow player and friend Frances Rhook in December 2001 it was decided that the club would like to dedicate an award to her so it is always remembered what a great club person she was.
This award was the natural choice to be named after Frances as the criteria for this award is the Best Club Person from Netball as voted on by fellow netball members.
This award fitted what Frances did for the club year in, year out. She played any grade in which she was needed. She never missed training. When we needed someone to fill a coaching position Frances was the first to volunteer. She never complained when we would take players to fill positions in other grades and she would then end up with a new team each week, and anyone who has coached knows how hard that makes your job.
Then those days when Frances had a gap from playing or coaching, she would be given a whistle and umpire wherever needed. None of this was done in a must be noticed manner but in her own quiet Frances way. As you can see, she left a huge gap in our club and this is why this award was named after Frances Rhook.
