Life Membership GFC - 1990
May’s association with the club spanned the whole of her life having been born into the Onley family with her father Norman a player for the club in the 1920’s. Her husband Oz Young also played with the club and other relations the Cordy’s, Onley’s, and Gordon Johnson also prominent in the clubs history. May & Oz had 3 sons in Vic, Jim, and Max all of whom played for the club, and 2 daughters with Annette & Fran both marrying footballers. In Annette’s case, Laurie Power became a Life and Hall of Fame member of the club. Annette & Laurie had 4 children in Mark(Digger), Craig(Wooly), David(Butch), and Julie, who all played at the club. As you can see from the list above, May was a regular supporter at games and did her bit in the Canteen when required. It was fitting that the Kitchen in the rooms has a plaque erected recognising her contribution to both the Football & the Cricket clubs both of which she was made a Life Member for a lifetime of support.
