Playing 100 games of footy for one club is a fantastic achievement. Eastlake is proud to announce that Melissa Johnson will reach this milestone on Sunday when she runs out with the Women's team when they visit Ainslie in the final home and away round of 2017. We caught up with "MJ" to get her thoughts on her time with Eastlake.
EFC: What do you remember about your first senior game for Eastlake?
Melissa Johnson (MJ): I played my first game in the back-line, and remember feeling like I had no idea what I was doing. Tackling however came pretty instinctively to me, so I had no problem throwing myself in the contest.
EFC: How did you feel leading up to the game?
MJ: I remember being quite apprehensive about my first game, I really had no idea what to expect. I was nervous but definitely excited to get out there and give it a crack.
EFC: What are your thoughts on playing your 100th senior game for the club?
MJ: It's a little hard to believe I'm in my 7th year and now playing my 100th game with the club. I feel like time has really flown, but I don't plan on stopping anytime soon.
EFC: What is your favourite Eastlake memory?
MJ: In the 2016 Grand Final I laid a pretty good chase down tackle; we unfortunately lost the day but it will always stand out in my mind as a moment I am proud of.
EFC: How would you summarise your Eastlake career up to now?
MJ: An epic adventure and some of the most fun I've ever had - keep the good times coming!
