Fourth Day Netball Action

The fourth day of the Netball competition continues at the State Netball Hockey Centre with the on-court action featuring gold medal favourites Australia and medal aspirants Samoa, Wales, Fiji, St Vincent and The Grenadines, Barbados and New Zealand.

Australia plays Barbados in the opening match of the day, where the defending Commonwealth champions are expected to match their ball skills against the Barbadians' physical style of play.

South Africa will come up against one of the crowd favourites - St Vincent and The Grenadines. The highly entertaining and flamboyant St Vincent and The Grenadines team will need to play a strong defensive game to contest the height of South African goal-scoring-machine Sindisiwe Gumede, who stands at 1.92m.

In the evening session, New Zealand will battle it out against Fiji. The physical Fijian defence should provide solid opposition for the New Zealand team, although the Kiwi's off-line zone defence through the mid-court could stifle the Fijian attack.

In the final match of the day, Samoa will face Wales. A slick Samoan outfit were impressive in their win over Singapore and may have too much height and strength for Wales. Watch for Samoa's off-line defence and sharp ball movement; Samoa has adopted a similar style of play and structure to that of the gold medal favourites New Zealand.
