In the early game of the day, the Rookies (a selection of first year players in the League) faced off against the Juniors (a selection of second and third year players).  From the beginning the Juniors looked to create their dominence on the game but the Rookies were having nothing to do with that.  Through the first 3 quarters the game score went back and forward, but was always close.  The last quarter was no different and with just 1 minute to go it looked like the Rookies woud just hang on to win.  But the experience of the Juniors saw them close the gap to tie the score almost on the final buzzer.

So to overtime, and again the contest was close. The fitness and enthusiasm of the Rookies managed to get a break and with the final buzzer about to sound, managed one more basket to run out winners by 4 points, in what was an exciting and high class game.

 The in between entertainment featured a 3 point shootout and a buzzer beater competition. 

The great entertainment for the large crowd was well and truly topped off with the All Star Game.  The enthusiasm and speed of the young Palauans kept them in the game against the experience of the Filipino All Stars.  The extra height of the All Stars created some problems for the Nationals, and throughout the first 3 quarters, the score was always close.

National Youth Men's Head Coach, Logan Ngiriou, used all his time-outs to keep control of the "minds" of his flamboyant charges.  Close to the end of the game it seemed that the All Stars would manage a win, but the fast breaking game of the Nationals came to the fore and a couple of quick baskets saw them in front by 2.  Then with another score by the All Stars it was tied again.  Another fast break and score, plus a foul right on the buzzer, saw the Nationals emerge winners by 75-70.

Next week it is back to business as usual as the FBL gets back into the second round.  With 10 teams in the competition and two rounds, this is the longest competition every year in Palau.
