Surangel Stars, Rangers get acid test in FBL Sunday

Teams Surangel Stars and Royal Cargo Rangers gets another acid test as they face formidable opponents on Sunday in the resumption of the 2014 season of the Filipino Basketball League (FBL) at the Palau National gym.

Sporting a 2-0 win-loss record, Surangel Stars will have to face defending champion FR Spoilers (2-0) at 2 p.m. Surangel Stars have so far survived near scare games, the latest beating Hanpa Cardinals, 87-80 via over time.

With that, the Stars will again rely on their line up composed of Arnold Undecimo, Bong Gayongorza, Melvin Parrinas, Ryan Tayag, Denis Demate, Ador Hilvano, Eric Manio, Anthony Bruzula and GJ Asido.

The Spoilers will have Michael Bombita, Coco Gonzales, Aries Echanova, Mark Pagayanan and Francis Tan.

On the other hand, scoring their first win last weekend, Royal Cargo Rangers are determined to stay on course as they will meet the Ilocandia Bulls in the main game at 3:30 p.m.

The Rangers will again rely on the services of brothers Jay and Jomar Naguit, Emerson Patenia, Nico Hinoza, Jayson Tabuyo, Jason Garcia, Mac Fernandez, veteran skipper Jimmy Domingo and Rogelio Fernandez.

Meanwhile, the Bulls will have Raul Osias, Marvic Ngchar, RB Dorado, Edward Baysa, Ryan Cacho, Joeger Supnet, Dondon Cabasal and Edmond Barayuga.

Games that will serve as appetizers will feature Liquid Skyy Dragons versus PNQ Crushers at 11 a.m. followed by the Aloha Maid Choppers-Rams tussle at 12:30 p.m.
