Rivals, Aqua Smooth beat foes in IP&E ABL

Team Rivals and Aqua Smooth relied on their offensive prowess to halt separate foes, Wednesday night, in the ongoing 2012 season of the IP&E Amateur Basketball League (ABL) at the Palau National gym.

The Rivals leaned on their fourth quarter assault as they went on to beat On Fire, 85-74. The Rivals were leading 57-50 at the end of the third canto and then fired up in the final quarter as they outscored On Fire with a 28-24 out put to score the win.

King Ngiraboi led the scoring chores for the Rivals with 21 points as teammate Ody Yalap added 16 while Oltag Olkeriil topscored for On Fire with 20 on the losing end.

On the other hand, Chris Tangunan fired 37 markers to lead Aqua Smooth past 4x4 Wheelers, 83-59. After taking a 40-29 lead at the end of the first quarter, Aqua Smooth never looked bask as they nailed the win.

Sunshine Solablai paced 4x4 Wheelers with 21 markers but was not enough to fuel a possible comeback.

In other games, FR Spoilers drubbed Ididers, 101-51; Airwaves downed Surangel Kings, 79-72; PCC Mesekiu won over the Cardinals, 88-67; PPR Shark Attack defeated Ikelauans, 77-71; Rivals beat Ranchers, 83-77; Ngerkesoaol outscored Ididers, 67-38; and Mesang Red Storm turned back Breakers, 63-54.

Games resume tonight with Kabong versus Ranchers at 6 p.m. while Ikelauans will meet the Cardinals at 9 p.m. January 16 matches will have Mesang Red Storm against the Nationals at 6 p.m. followed by the Stingers-Kabong tussle at 7:20 p.m. while Airwaves will be pitted against 4x4 Wheelers at 9 p.m.

Coaches and team representatives are reminded that there will be meeting on January 17 at 11:30 a.m. at the Palau National gym.
