GBL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT SEMI FINALS
Surangel Kings led by 9 points at the first break but a big second quarter by MPIIC’s Mekeruul and Jeff saw them outscore the Surangel team be down by just 3 points at half time. A low scoring third quarter by both teams saw the lead reduced to just 2 at the interval. In the final quarter it was free throws that decided the game with fouls galore by both teams. The accuracy of Surangel’s “Mr Excitement”, Arnold Undecimo at the foul line scoring 8 one pointers enabled them to win by a single point.
In the second semi final Galaxy Builders led at the end of every quarter but only just. At the first interval it was 16-15, then at the half time break it was 33-30, by three quarter time it was 50-43 and at the final whistle Galaxy won by 66-56. For MOF Omsangel Weston banged in 15 points, while for Galaxy Builders, Castro had a game high 26 points in a winning effort.
The Consolation Game for third place will see MPIIC take on MOF Omsangel at 6.00pm tonight while the Championship Game will be a 3 game series starting tonight at 7.30pm between Surangel Kings and Galaxy Builders in what should be a most exciting series.
