LEVEL 1 COACHING COURSE CONCLUDES

Of the 12 registrations, 7 coaches completed sufficient units to qualify as Level 1 Coaches.  These coaches will be the first to become accredited under Basketball Palau’s new National Accreditation Scheme (NAS), a national accreditation scheme that covers all areas of coaching, officiating and administration.

The coaches who attended the recent Level 2 Coaching Course still need to complete their practical assignments during the next NBL season, and so the Level 1 coaches have become the first under our new system.

The NAS was adopted as part of Basketball Palau’s National Development Program (NDP) in July this year and the NDP is seen as the blueprint for the future development of basketball in Palau.

The 7 coaches will soon receive their certificate of accreditation at a suitable function to be organized.

Coaches who were previously accredited under past courses are required to complete another course to join the list of current coaches.  Until then these coaches will appear on the non-active list of Palau basketball coaches.  The reason for renewing their accreditation is that it has been several years since any coaching courses were conducted in Palau and the coaches must be updated in the latest knowledge of coaching.

Coaches accredited under Basketball Palau’s NAS will remain on the current list provided that they are active in coaching in local leagues and also attend a coaching clinic or course within each 2 year period.
