MJFC Update

Dear MJFC Community,
We hope this message finds you all in good health and coping with the lifestyle modifications required to see life return to normal as soon as possible. I'm certain everyone is anxious for a return to footy, so your patience is acknowledged and appreciated in these unprecedented times.

Last week, the EFNL provided a COVID-19 update highlighting Stage 3 restrictions have been extended until midnight on 11th May. This means there is no immediate change to the previously advised season postponement date of 31st May 2020. Importantly this also means that all club training, events, ground, and light usage remains suspended until further notice.

AFL Victoria, via the EFNL, will provide further update on season 2020, following a meeting of the Metropolitan Leagues and AFL on Tuesday 12th May 2020. The Metropolitan Leagues will continue to work with the AFL and await the outcome of Government's decision on the 11th May as to whether restrictions will be maintained, reduced, or lifted and/or whether any exemptions would be made for community sport.

The EFNL remain optimistic that a half season commencing on the 13th or 20th June would be the most viable option for season 2020, should community football and netball be allowed to recommence.

For further information from the EFNL, including survey results from EFNL clubs, please refer to their COVID-19 update - April 15.

Again, as soon as we have any further news or updates we will be communicating these to all members via email and on our website www.mitchamjfc.com and Facebook page (Mitcham Junior Football Club).

In the meantime, we encourage the kids (with or without their siblings/parents/guardians) to stay active and strong using the very practical exercise programme designed by Ian at Active EP, get a footy in the hand as often as possible, and post any skill shots (or bloopers) on to our Facebook page.

Take care and remember to wash your hands!
Anthony Grace
MJFC President

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
