About your Club...

Can you believe that we're a month into training already and less than two months to our first game? Behind the scenes, the Committee of Management (CoM) are working hard to ensure that all our members get to play footy in season 2020. This includes coordinating practice games; merchandise orders; liaising with Council regarding grounds for training and playing on; attending EFNL workshops and meetings; and speaking with local clubs about issues pertaining to us all.
Each of us on the CoM is a volunteer who puts in countless hours to ensure that the Mitcham Junior Football Club continues to be a strong and viable club into the future. We are nothing without our volunteers and there is no time better than the present to put your hand up to assist.

We are still seeking the following to fill our CoM:
Welfare Officer
Grants Officer
Trainers Coordinator
and coming off the back of the ENFL Club Development Day,
Child Safety Officer

None of these roles are particularly onerous but ensure that our club adheres to regulations as required by the EFNL (Trainers Coordinator, Child Safety Officer, Welfare Officer) or, in the case of the Grants Officer, provides an opportunity for greater funding for the club. If you think you might be able to fill any of these roles, or if you just want further information, please get in contact with the Secretary, Shaz Wilson for a position description.

It was back in the first edition of the newsletter that we introduced you to the MJFC 2020 Junior Committee of Management (CoM) however we've had numerous new members join since then so it's time to mention them again. Their email addresses are also provided so that you can contact the person best aligned with your query:

President, Anthony Grace -
Vice President and Football Operations Manager, Leigh Walters -

MJFC Policy...

Throughout season 2019, the CoM worked on a policy document for the MJFC. The policy document was produced as our club has grown significantly over the last five years and we realised that we just didnt have enough information pertaining to issues that arise. The document relates to policy matters from coaching to captains; to child safety and codes of conduct. This document is a great reference tool for all members and has been designed from the EFNL framework. It will be monitored and updated regularly to ensure that our club is keeping up with expectations from the league. The full policy document can be found on our website however you can also follow this link for some light reading...

This week at the club...

Mal Parkinson, the mouthguard man, has kindly offered to attend training at Mulluana College again this Sunday from 9am-1030am. If you are in the market for a mouthguard, feel free to seek him under the Tiger Tent however if the timing doesn't suit, or if you miss out because he is so busy, dont forget that you can make an appointment at his Nunawading clinic. Just call 9874 1041

We are still seeking the services of a caring parent, friend or guardian with a passion for footy! That's right, our second U9 side still requires the services of a dedicated coach. If this is you, please contact Footy Operations Manager, Leigh Walters.

Team Support:
Each team in the league, both in competitive and non-competitive age groups, requires a group of volunteers to ensure that players get on the field each week. The bare minimum includes:
Coach & Assistant Coach
Team Manager
If you are interested in taking on one of these roles, please contact your coach as soon as possible. This helps to ensure that we have accreditation taken care of and aren't scrambling to find assistance at the start of the season. There is great support & training for these positions and if you want to find out more, just have a chat to your coach or a member of the Committee of Management.
In addition to the main roles, each team also requires weekly assistance with Umpire Escorts, Goal Umpires and Timekeepers. More often than not, your Team Manager will assign these roles on a weekly basis however if you are interested in taking on one of them in a permanent capacity, please speak with your Coach or Team Manager.
