Mitcham under 8 Black
Teams: Mitcham Black V Mitcham Yellow (Koonung Reserve)
Summary. A great effort today with Mitcham Black continuing to improve. They played some terrific footy with their passing and team play a highlight. They kept the opposition goaless for the second week in a row. Standouts today were our Encouragement award and medal winner Thomas (the Terminator) Coulsen who dominated the midfield. He also kicked a cracking long range goal after running half the field with a celebration to suit. Our player of the week was Michael Bamford who was terrific up forward with 2 great goals and nearly had several more. He also did well in the midfield and played his best game of the season. Our captain for the day and first game player Ethan Schutt played really well and kicked a nice goal. Austin Loring was cool under fire in close today with some slick handballs and some nice ruck work. Jake (the Extractor) McConnell was magnificent as always and looked like Dustin Martin as he layed out a few "don't argues". Max Lazarus was great up forward with 4 sausage rolls. Brody Wolst had a huge third quarter with 2 goals in 2 mins and worked hard. Ethen Reed was a little running machine with some nice linking play. Daniel Sagwan was classy as always and kicked a great goal. Ben D'Costa and Cam Walters continued their ariel dominance and both players hit the scoreboard. Chloe Linnett had a ton of the ball today and nearly kicked several goals. Archer Howard ran hard today and Liam O'Dwyer used his height well and nearly took a great mark. A great performance today by the Blacks.

Although out gunned this week, Team Yellow continues to develop week in week out.

Mitcham under 9 Yellow
Teams: Lysterfield v Mitcham
Summary: Today the Mitcham U9 Yellow team had a hard fought game against a very good side from Lysterfield. The game was played in good conditions and our boys took a while to get going. Lysterfield were first to the ball and in front for the first quarter however our boys rallied in the last three quarters and started getting first to the ball which resulted in us finishing strongly. Let's bring that again next week for 4 quarters boys! A special mention to Blake and Haydn for being awarded the medals and to Cooper and Declan for winning the Two Brothers awards.
Best Players: Blake, Haydn, Cooper, Declan, Thomas and Charlie
Goals: Blake 2, Billy 1
Mitcham under 10 Yellow
Teams: Mitcham Vs Lysterfield (Koonung Reserve)
Summary: As they say, 'What a week in football'. Today we came out pretty strong and struggled to put goals on the scoreboard early, kicking 1 goal 5 in the first quarter. The second quarter was a bit of a battle with neither team getting on the scoreboard as we probably lost a bit of our structure with a few too many boys chasing kicks and not picking up their opposition players. We bounced back in the third and final quarters, playing some good team footy which resulted in us running away with a pretty convincing win.
Best Players: Encouragement Medal - Harrison Crockett, Two Brother Café Award - Brian Gallagher, McDonalds Award - Josh Dakic
Goal Kickers: Charlie Wilson 1, Oscar Tribolet 1 and Harrison Crockett 1

Summary: Round 4 brought another great effort from the under 10 girls. With each person getting a touch and most of the girls filling in for the other team everyway worked really well as a team and put in their best efforts even when playing for Upwey. Managing to kick 8 goals the girls played well in every position and everyone played the role they needed to play.

Mitcham 0.0-0 V Boronia 8.8-56
Summary:The boys had another tough encounter this week, against Boronia on their big home ground. Our focus for the day was running to defend and support as well as sticking our tackles and looking after the ball. Unfortunately we struglled to get these things right for big patches of the day and a result a result went down by a big margin. Our captain for the day was Jaylen Allen and once again threw himself into everything from start to finish. Tyson, Alex and Tong all continued their good form by winning the ball and applying pressure around the contest, while Cooper followed up with a second good defensive in a a row. In the end our opponents were a bit bigger, stronger and more desperate but left the boys with plenty of lessons to learn before next week.
Best Players: Jaylen Allen, Tyson Darmody, Tong Atak , Alex Parigi, Cooper Edwards
Mitcham under 11 Yellow
Blackburn 4.1-25 v Mitcham 0.5-5
Summary: A big game against an undefeated and strong Blackburn team loomed large for our boys. We battled hard and produced some good running footy in patches, however our forward entries were always rushed and our forwards just couldn’t get to the correct position to contest. Despite that, we managed to have the same amount of scoring shots as Blackburn, but we couldn't manage to jag a goal. A good effort, but with better structures and set-up, we will be even better. We tested the top team with a lot more left to offer up.
Best Players: Jack Ewison, Heath Fox, Jesse Horvat, Ryan McConnell, Mason Porter, Max Irvine
Mitcham under 12 Girls
Mitcham Tigers 7.17-59 v Montrose 0.0-0
Summary: Sunday saw us back home at Walker on a modified ground against South Croydon. The girls started well again with us moving the ball well from the centre thanks to Taya’s ruck work and we were able to score early. Our tackling and pressure was on song again this week. It was very congested on the smaller ground, but great in and under work from Lauren and Hayley gave us plenty of opportunity to score, and whilst we kept attacking the goals we were bit inaccurate. Tahlia impressed well in her first game and Gemma back from a week off was amongst our best, getting herself a goal along the way. Savannah’s attack on the footy and great bumping saw her get two goals from pure hard work. Special mention to Alessia, not just for another great game, but her falcon in the 2qtr was one of the best we’ve seen in girls footy. Well played girls, Go Tigers!
Best Players: Lauren, Hayley, Tahlia, Gemma, Savannah
Goals: Savannah 2, Lauren 2, Mathilda R, Stella, Gemma
Mitcham under 12
Mitcham V Lysterfield
Summary: We travelled down Eastlink to Lysterfield, the boys seemed flat even after kicking the first goal. Lysterfield then kicked the next 2 goals without our boys touching it. Composure from our team leaders settled the game down, Luke and Ryan M regained control of our back half. Our pressure lifted and so did our run and carry and by half time the midfield was well in control. We extended our lead in the second half. A great lesson learned by the boys, focus is required from the first bounce and always respect your opponent.
Best Players: Peter, Aiden, Hamish, Hudson, Danny, Luke M, Tynan,
Goals Peter 4, Hudson 2, Tynan 2, Hamish 2, Cooper 1, Luke F 1, Aiden 1, Rory 1, Jack 1

Best Players: Lachlan C. Oscar. James F. Jenson. Zac. James V. Matty.

Teams: Donvale Vs Mitcham
Summary: Round 4 saw us take on Donvale at home. The first quarter started off great with our Jack, Dan N. and Tonnam winning the ball in the midfield, Denzell and Connor taking strong marks across half-back and driving the ball forward, but our forwards were unable to convert. Donvale started to win their share of the footy, were running in numbers and made the most of their limited opportunities and we ended up ahead by only 1 point at quarter time. The second quarter was unfortunately the same as the first. We won plenty of the footy through Joel, Dan T. and Tonnam’s hard work, but weren’t able to put it on the scoreboard and the halftime margin was 1 point. Today’s third quarter was a 180 degree difference from last week’s third quarter. The team started putting in more effort, the talk increased and it was noticeable with a 2.4 to 0.2 margin for the quarter. With a few positional changes and a slightly different setup, the boys were able to really close out the game in the last quarter. Joel continued running hard, Tonnam kept attacking the ball, Connor showed poise and drive, Mackay was hard at the footy, Mason took the game on, Austin imposed himself at the contest, JP was taking marks and kicking goals and everyone else followed suit. It was good to see the team reap the rewards of their hard work and even better to hear them finally sing the song. Well done to all the boys! Let’s make sure we keep this momentum going into next week.
Best Players: Team Effort
Goals : JP 5, Tonnam 3, James, Joel, Jasper

Mitcham V Donvale
Summary: Another display of great football from our boys who took on the undefeated Donvale. Within the first minute we lost our 2017 B&F in Ethan Wu, bringing our bench down to 1. Despite this setback the boys kept Donvale at bay by leading at the major break and keeping this fine lead into the final quarter. Donvale took full advantage of their 6 interchange with an aggressive roll over of fresh bodies onto the field, out running us in the final quarter. There is no doubt we have a great team and we will be hard to beat when our injury list recovers.
Best Players: Jamie Ross, Sam Balman
Goals: Jamie (1) Drake (1), Dom (2), Miller (1), Lucas(1)
Mitcham under 16 Girls
Montrose V Mitcham
Summary: The Under 16 girls ventured up to the foothills of the Dandenongs to take on the top of the ladder Montrose. We came expecting a tough game and that is certainly what we got. To our girls credit they played a fantastic game for 3 ½ quarters before they understandably started to tire against a strong opposition who had the luxury of having 6 girls on the bench as opposed to no rotations for our girls. Hopefully we will be placed in Division Two during the week where we will be more competitive. Our awards went to Kealeigh for her fantastic tackling pressure and her willingness to be putting pressure on the opposition and to Mikayla for her brilliant efforts in defence against a steady stream of attack fro Montrose. Thanks to Megan Fogarty for filling in for us. Best wishes also to Morgan who came off injured in the first quarter
Best Players:Jess, Riley, Hayley, Evie and Maddy
