COVID-19 restrictions in NSW from later this week. We hope you enjoy
your new-found freedoms, while following all the necessary personal
We received an update from the AFL this week about potential future
re-commencement of community AFL. The update is available on our Facebook page and Team App. We hope to recommence training and games in the not-too-distant future, once we receive the go-ahead from the AFL.
The committee met again last night via a Zoom meeting and discussed a
number of member benefits to be implemented as soon as we can.
Compensation for those members who have paid full registration for 2020,
which may be credit towards 2021 membership
Reduced registration fees for the remainder of 2020, (assuming we

The club will pay for some on-line courses, such as umpiring, coaching

will be required to bring and use their own water bottles. The club will

Members UPdate April 2020
Firstly, our President and Committee hopes this update finds all our club members in good health and good spirits despite the COVID-19 cloud hanging over us. We also hope everyone is abiding by the guidance we are all being given to help overcome the virus sooner rather than later.
In addition to the isolation and social distancing we are having to endure, it is somewhat depressing not having any sport (especially AFL!!) to play, watch, follow and talk about - it has taken a lot out of our daily lives. Good news is, it will return at some point, so there is light at the end of the tunnel.
The committee met last night for the first time since our season 'pause' using an on-line forum for the first time. Apart from the novelty of the experience, we thought it was successful. Things we discussed were:
No further information on the re-commencement of AFL in any form - we will all have to stay tuned for the lead from the AFL, which we expect will flow down to us
We will be looking at an activity that we may be able to use to keep people in touch (while observing all the current stay-at-home and social distancing requirements) - if anyone has a suggestion, we would be happy to hear it.
The club has a healthy bank account at present and the committee is looking at ways to utilise the 'extra' funds for the benefit on our members -more information to follow soon on that.
Our new reversible jerseys are still help up in China - we will advise when we have more information on delivery.
A reminder of our sponsors for 2020: Terrace Meats, Lambton Park Hotel,
BodyWorx Physio, Regional Australia Bank, Adamstown Car Detailing,
Crawford Real Estate and Murray Consulting Solutions.
COVID-19 Related Cancellations
This means our four Intraclub games, Hunter carnival and two AFL HCC games planned in that time are now cancelled.
Once we have more information about Club activities during this time and beyond, we’ll share that with everyone.
In the meantime, let’s hope the AFL goes ahead, albeit without spectators, so we can be entertained via the TV!

Members Update 29 January 2020
Our 2020 football season is fast approaching and the committee is hard at work getting preparations underway. Some key things to be aware of:
Communication Platforms. In addition to our website, emails (such as this one) and Facebook, we are using Team App as a major communication platform this year. We will also be using Team App to enable club registration and payment of fees, payment of match day fees and purchase of merchandise (such s the new club jerseys). We encourage everyone to get the Team App app, register with Hunter AFL Masters and check out the various functions. We will populate News, Events, Sponsors, Store, etc over the coming weeks.
Sponsors. We will again have Terrace Meats, Lambton Park Hotel, BodyWorx Physio and Regional Australia Bank as sponsors in 2020. In addition, Adamstown Car Detailing (Shane Gallagher) and Crawfords Real Estate will be supporting us this year - stay tuned for more info
Jerseys. As in previous note, we will have new, reversible green & red jerseys this year and players can order their own personalised jersey. If you want one, you need to get your order and $30 payment in quickly via Team App. Those players who have a personalised 50 games number should also get their order in if they want to keep their number.
The Club’s bank details for payments are BSB: 650 000, Acc no: 9820 72205, Acc name: Hunter Masters AFL, Bank: Newcastle Permanent Building Society Ltd.
2020 Draw. The draw for this season is still being developed and will be notified in the next few weeks. First game is likely to be around 22 March. In the meantime, get down to training each Sunday afternoon 3 pm at Lambton Park.

2019 Hunter AFL Masters Survey - Results
- The Executive Summary and Conclusion give the best snapshots of the survey. In essence, we found that Members are mostly happy with how the club is functioning.
- The Results and Key Findings are where you will find our interpretations of the data in the survey, which also includes comparison with the 2018 survey where appropriate.
- The Discussion Points and Recommendations are our points for consideration, and what you may find most compelling. We do not expect all of these recommendations to be adopted - indeed, they may not be adopted at all. They are merely our suggestions for further consideration.

Milestone Award Changes
The committee has been considering changes to club games milestones for some time and decided on some changes proposed to come into effect from 2020. The purpose of this article is to notify members of the proposed changes and provide the opportunity for feedback before they are introduced.
Currently, players are recognised for the following games milestones with our club:
25 games - monogrammed glass
50 games - personalised club guernsey
75 games - framed action photo
100 games - life membership
150 games - match ball signed by players
200 games - tbc
The committee has considered changes because of the increased player participation due to introduction of the AFL HCC Social Comp games in addition to our normal Intraclub and Carnival games schedule, meaning players are likely to achieve these milestones in a relatively short period.
For example, our 2019 draw has 23 games where in previous years/seasons we have had up to 15 games. Along with that, we are seeing our players are playing more games this year than in previous years.
The current milestone recognitions were established during the start up of the club with the expectation relatively few players would achieve those games milestones, especially 100 games for life membership. If players did achieve the milestones, it was expected to take a significant time. For example, our earlier players who have achieved the life membership milestone took around 10 years or more.
With our current draw, which is likely to continue given the committee's intent to continue with all game activities (intraclub, carnival, AFL HCC participation) and the level of player participation in all activities, the 100 game milestone may be achieved in around 5 years - about half the period previously. The 25 game milestone may be achieved early in a second season for some payers.
The committee considers the short period diminishes the significance of the achievement and also brings added expense to the club in purchasing the recognitions.
So, the committee has decided on the following games milestones proposed to be introduced from 2020:
50 games - monogrammed glass
100 games - personalised club Guernsey
150 games - match ball signed by payers, and life membership
200 games - framed photo
250 games - tbd
The committee understands this may impact some players approaching milestones early in 2020. However, it is believed to be in the best interests of the club. The milestones may be reviewed again in the future depending on the club activities and other considerations of the committee at the time.
Member feedback on this change is welcomed.
