FC LEOPOLD this week launched the fourth Soccer Mums program to be staged in Geelong - and the first one located in the Southern zone - which attracted an outstanding turnout to its first Thursday morning session.

A record breaking total of 11 mums participated in the initial session with more women expected to join the six week program in coming weeks.

It was the biggest turnout for a first session by any of the four clubs that have launched the Soccer Mums program in Geelong, which has certainly brought a smile to the face of the Program Deliverer, Cath Sattler.

“For me, it’s all about mums being able to have a kick with their kids who play, to know which part of their foot to use and where to put the standing foot and the like,” explained an overjoyed Sattler.

“It sounds a little crazy but something like that works wonders for a mum’s confidence with the ball.

“Another thing I like to do is to get the women out in the fresh air with other like-minded women and have a heap of fun. All I’ve ever wanted to do is help people make a change for the better and to help their physical and mental wellbeing,” she added.

It is not too late to join FC Leopold’s program, which will be held every Thursday morning from 10-11am at Estuary Reserve for the next five weeks until the end of August.

Geelong SC was the first club to kickstart the Soccer Mums program in Geelong, before North Geelong Warriors also hosted an initial six week program. The Warriors are launching their second six-week program on Friday 27^th July (tonight).

Geelong Rangers was the third local club to run the popular football themed fitness and social program for mums, which is currently being run on a Thursday night at Myers Reserve in Bell Post Hill.
